Hints & Tips

Easy way to make transfers, first lay out a strip of gummed brown paper roll, gum side up, the paint on a thick layer of Banana Oil Dope (Model aircraft suppliers) When dry paint or use rub on letters to your design, when dry, cut around design then float off in a saucer of water and transfer to your model. a very tiny amount of fairy liquid should stop air bubbles forming under the transfer. Seal with a spray varnish when dry.

Painting

To prevent bleeding of painting/spraying under masking tape, firstly run back of finger nail along masking edge. lightly dry brush or spray covered up colour along masked edge before painting as normal. Use low tack masking tape or run finger along sticky side to reduce tack. I always remove tape before paint is hard and by pulling back on itself, never straight up as this will pull paint off the surface.

Block making

This is a technique I used many years ago on my Tunny Fisher to mass produce small blocks from Lime, it uses A Harold Underhill principle, make small objects as large as possible before finishing to size.
